Let me start by saying that I am not a photographer very sophisticated, but I wanted a camera more than the compact point and shoot features offer. The main feature of this camera (apart from the name of Canon's favorite) is the largest optical zoom. I go to sporting events and many of this camera is ideal for zoom and to obtain clear images of the action. They are usually sitting relatively far away, in the gallery, but I feel the edge there. But it also has many features that you can select for a given environment (ie sunset) or you can manually adjust the setting and focus to your desire. I think this is a good feature, because now they are not sophisticated, and typically use the default selections, but how can I learn about photography, I can still use this camera for the changes of their own. I think the fact that it takes AA batteries, batteries, because if you do not, are easily replaceable on the road. One thing I would stress, though not a big problem is that the battery compartment is a bit 'difficult to open. The picture quality is great and what I expect from Canon. Generally, if you are looking for a moderatley small camera, the photographer who occasionally provides good picture quality and gives you a great zoom with some extra features, this is the camera for you. Some people here expected rate of the cameras from their very point and shoot …. its not an SLR, then the images in all situations are not perfect, but for his class has a good job. If every little detail to be perfect in every light, go for the SLR.

| Review by Gail Lee Mac (Portland, OR United States) 2010-07-28 I have a significant amount of Nikon Pro level equipment and do some commercial photography. I wanted a P&S that was around $200 that could be used as a travel camera. I have not used any of the scene modes, but the Intelligence mode and the aperture and shutter modes work extremely well. The zoom and stabilization work very well. Mos... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by Larry (USA) 2010-07-23 I've had other similar Panasonic cameras and been pleased with all of them. I'm looking for snapshots, not high art and this does what it does very well. I particularly like the wide angle, which, until recently, has only been available on much more expensive cameras. Panasonic has more competition now from cameras with similar features, but it is ...
